Upcoming Bond Information from Sioux Falls Park & Rec

It’s been several months since the last time we got together to discuss and dream about the future of Sioux Falls Aquatics, specifically for Frank Olson and Kuehn Park.   

We are at the last step in this process, where we are asking Sioux Falls City Council to approve the funds through a bond for a new outdoor aquatics experience at Kuehn Park and an indoor recreation center with indoor aquatics at Frank Olson. Replacing these pools is an important quality of life investment that ensures these pools remain accessible for generations to come. 

The approval of this bond has been delayed a few times this year for various reasons, and we have several new City Councilors who are just joining the conversation. It’s important they hear from YOU about how these upgraded aquatics and recreation experiences will benefit your families and the community. 

Here’s what’s at stake: 

• Frank Olson: An indoor recreation center with an indoor aquatic facility offering year-round fun and fitness for all ages. 
• Kuehn Park: An enhanced outdoor aquatics experience for families to enjoy during the short summer months. 

How can you help? 

1. Contact your City Councilor: Share your enthusiasm for these projects! Explain how they will benefit your family and the community. Mention any input you’ve provided during the planning process. 
2. Attend a City Council meeting: Public input is crucial! Share your excitement in person at the meetings on January 7 and 14 at 6 p.m. at Carnegie Town Hall. 

This is a critical step in this project. We know from our meetings how exciting these aquatics projects are for you and your neighbors. Even though we have shared your sentiments with the City Council, right now, it’s important for the Councilors to hear the excitement directly from you.
