September has come to the Sioux Falls Area! We can just start to see the first hints of fall coming through the air and the trees. September is a busy month for many Sioux Falls families! Many people are readjusting to the school schedule, the calendar is filling up with fall sports and activities, and we are all trying to soak in the last bits of warm weather before the cold comes sweeping in.

Fall Festivals

Fall festivals have arrived! These festivals are a great way to enjoy the beautiful fall weather with your family. Make sure to check out the Fall Festival 2026 opening day at the Country Apple Orchard on September 4th! The Country Apple Orchard’s fall fun will be open all of September and October on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. 

The Pumpkin Festival weekends at Riverview Tree Farm open up on the weekend of  September 26th and 27th for 2026. The pumpkin festivals run for five weekends and are always fun for the whole family.

Head down to Yankton to check out Mazing Acres and their Fall Festival! They open the weekend of September 19th and are open on Saturdays and Sundays. Their closing weekend is October 31st. 

Cherry Rock Farms, in Brandon, is more than just a farm selling delicious produce! They also host a fall festival on weekends. They have U-Pick pumpkins, a hay ride, a corn maze, and farm animals. Watch their facebook page for opening weekend dates!

Farmers Markets

September is a fantastic month for farmers’ markets! Fall produce is rolling in, and the weather is perfect for a Saturday morning outdoors. Enjoy a Saturday morning at the Falls, or check out one of the other farmers’ markets listed in our Sioux Falls Farmers’ Market Guide!

Family Fun

The 63rd Annual Sidewalk Arts Festival is on September 12th this year. This outdoor event near the Washington Pavilion will have more than 230 vendors!

The Lifelight Music Festival is back in Nelson Park on September 6th. Enjoy a Sunday listening to music, checking out the Kid Zone, and more.

The Sioux Falls Parks and Rec will be hosting their Touch-a-Truck event at Haromond Park on September 25th. This event is free and is sure to be a hit for many families. 

The Downtown Sioux Falls Riverfest is happening on September 19th. This anticipated event features food trucks, vendors, live music, and more. Riverfest will be located at Cherapa Place Plaza near the Big Sioux River.

SiouxperCon is back for 2026. This event runs for three days at the convention center, September 25th-27th. 

Get ready for a Rodeo of a good time at the Denny Sanford Premier Center for the Cinch Playoffs- The Governor’s Cup. This is a 3-day event, September 25th-27th, so get your tickets while they last!

Whatever you get into this month, enjoy everything that the Sioux Falls Area has to offer!
