Winter, and especially the cold temperatures, have truly come to the Sioux Falls Area! While the colder temps might not be the most fun, they do bring the ability to join in on a fun winter activity: skating!

Ice Skating Around Sioux Falls!
Sioux Falls Parks and Rec
The Sioux Falls Parks and Rec department maintains six outdoor ice rinks in Sioux Falls during the winter. This year, the rinks are tentatively set to open on January 22nd! Each rink has a warming house, vending machines, and limited ice skate rentals available.
The parks with ice skating rinks are Campus Park, Frank Olson Park, McKennan Park, Memorial Park, Sherman Park, and Tuthill Park.
Sioux Falls Parks and Rec makes it easy to give ice skating a try. Skate for fun or play a game of hockey out on the ice!

Scheels IcePlex
The Scheels IcePlex has so much to offer! Of course, you can find hockey and figure skating out on the ice, but it is also open to the public! Check out their open skate times, homeschool skate times, cosmic skate, and year-round events.
If you don’t have your own skates, no worries! The IcePlex offers rentals at a minimal charge. The IcePlex offers birthday party packages as well.

Brookings: Larson Ice Center
Located north of Sioux Falls in Brookings is the Larson Ice Center. This center, run by the Brookings Parks and Rec, offers plenty of open skate hours, along with skate rentals. Make sure to confirm hours/availability before heading up, as the schedule can change.
Ask about the private party rentals of the rink as well!
