August has come to the Sioux Falls Area! It seems like summer is just flying by, and the new school year is fast approaching. Make the most of the last weeks of summer with some of the amazing events and attractions coming to the Sioux Falls Area this month. Even with the start of school, there is still so much going on in the Sioux Empire during the last half of August. The weather is perfect for some area lake swimming, late summer camping, and hiking.

August in the Sioux Falls Area
Music
Make sure to check out the musical guest coming to the Sioux Empire Fair for the 2026 summer!
If you like country music, this next concert is for you! Riley Green is coming to The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on August 27th for his Cowboy as it Gets Tour.
Head over to the Washington Pavilion to see Gary Allen in concert on August 27th with special guest Julie Eddy.
Jackie Bird will be at the Levitt at 10:30 am on August 29th for a children’s show.
The Levitt is going strong all August long! Make sure to check out their full schedule to see who is all playing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Nights.
Enjoy music every Monday evening at McKennan Park at 7 pm at the Bandshell. These free concerts are always a relaxing treat to start off the week. Their last Monday night show for the 2026 summer will be on August 31st.
Outdoor
The Outdoor Campus’s Annual Hunting and Gear Giveaway is on August 8th this year, starting at 10 am. Make sure to arrive on time for this generous event. The Outdoor Campus gives away outdoor gear for free on this day to help provide access to the outdoors.
Speaking of the Outdoor Campus, they are hosting a Super Saturday Fishing on August 8th as well! This event is free to attend for the public, and is open-house style (no registration is required).
Looking to embrace your inner child for a day? Big Vikes is happening at YMCA Camp Leif Ericson on August 22nd! This adult-only day camp lets you jump into some camp fun. Perfect for a night out with friends or for a date night.
Family Fun
The Sioux Empire Fair is taking place from July 31st to August 8th! Get ready for days filled with family fun, activities, fair food, vendors, live music, and more. There is so much to see and do at the Sioux Empire Fair.
The Heartland County Corn Maze is set to open on August 14th this year! This is also going to be their final year. Get some fall fun a bit earlier this year while celebrating The Heartland Country Corn Maze’s place in our community over the last few decades!
The Turner County Fair is a favorite in the Sioux Falls Area! The Turner County Fair in Parker is from August 17th-20th this year. For more fair fun, check out our listing of area county fairs!
August is a great time to catch a local game at The Birdcage! Enjoy an evening watching a great baseball game while supporting our Sioux Falls Canaries. They have games throughout August. Make sure to check out our round-up of what to know before going to a Canaries game!
Farmers Markets
There are plenty of Farmers’ Markets in the Sioux Falls Area in August, and the produce will be at it’s peak this month. Check out some of the area farmers’ markets below. To see a full Area Farmers Market Guide, click on the link!
Falls Park Farmers Market
Every Saturday in July you can enjoy a farmers market at Falls Park. They run from 8 am to 1 pm.
At Lake Lorraine
There is a Farmers Market at Lake Lorraine every Thursday evening from 4 pm to 7 pm. The farmers market is in the parking lot near Hobby Lobby.
Saturdays at the Park in Tea
Also new this year is Tea’s Saturday’s in the Park. Every 3rd Saturday of the month from July-October they will be hosting a farmers market with vendors, live music, kids activities, and more at the Tea City Park. The August event is on the 17th.
Brandon Farmers Market
The Brandon Farmers Market happens every Saturday morning from 9 am to 1:30 pm. This farmers market is in the Lippert Parking lot.
