For Erin Beckstrom and her son, Tye, vision therapy was about much more than eyesight. It was about finding answers, restoring confidence, and getting their quality of life back.

Before vision therapy at Visions Eye Care + Therapy Center, Tye had headaches, trouble concentrating, poor eye-hand coordination, handwriting delays, and difficulty copying from the board. Erin struggled for years with slow reading and headaches.

Erin and Tye faced major challenges after experiencing two car accidents within five months. The accidents left both of them dealing with post-concussive symptoms.

Erin was left with intense sensory sensitivity after the car accidents. “Bright lights, loud noises, movement in my peripheral vision, and even sunlight became overwhelming,” Erin shared. “I was experiencing migraines several times a week.”

A Supportive Experience at Visions Eye Care

At Visions Eye Care + Therapy Center, both Erin and Tye began working through vision therapy.

Tye loved working with Miss Tina, even when the exercises at home were challenging. Erin found a compassionate and understanding therapist in Miss Tricia, who helped Erin learn while feeling overwhelmed.

She also appreciated feeling truly heard after years of frustration. Erin had expressed concern over her son’s symptoms to other medical providers, only to be dismissed.

“Most medical professionals thought I was just an anxious mom reading too much into my son’s symptoms,” she said. “For years, I had also been told my symptoms were just my ‘normal.’ Dr. Gentrup helped us realize there were real answers.”

Life-Changing Results

Over time, both Erin and Tye began noticing major improvements.

“Neither of us has routine headaches anymore,” Erin shared. “Tye’s reading scores improved, and he was even invited to join the honors program for middle school.”

For Erin, the changes were equally profound.

“My sensory sensitivity is completely resolved,” she said. “Computer screens and fluorescent lights are tolerable again. I can enjoy the natural sunlight and open the blinds in my home!”

“Vision therapy gave us our quality of life back,” Erin added. “We are forever grateful.”
