Happy February from all of us at The ‘hood Magazine! We are smack dap in the middle of winter, and the weeks can feel long. But there is still fun to be had in the Sioux Falls Area!
Speaking of the cold, check out our favorite spots for indoor play! Although the colder temperatures may prevent us from playing outside as much, there are still plenty of places to play in the area.
Here are some of the things to look forward to in February around the Sioux Falls Area:
Get Outside
The outdoor ice skating rinks are officially open! The City of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation opened six public ice skating rinks around town. Check out this article for more information about ice skating in the Sioux Falls Area.
Check Out the Winter Classes offered at the Outdoor Campus (Free!)
Valentine’s Day Events
Valentine’s Day brings out some welcomed winter events! Lots of shops, restaurants, and attractions around town have Valentine’s Day events planned. Make sure to check out our online calendar for a full list! Check out the Woo at The Great Plains Zoo on February 10th, all the classes offered at the Museum of Visual Materials, or the Valentine’s events at the Siouxland Libraries.
Jurassic Quest
The dinosaurs are back in town! Jurassic Quest is back at the Fairground Febuary 16th-Febuary 19th. Check out their website here for more information!
Check Out Area Museums
Let the cold take you inside! Did you know about all the different museums Sioux Falls has to offer? The Siouxland Heritage Museums include the Old Courthouse Museum, The Pettigrew House and Museum, and the Irean Hall Museum Resource Center. As a plus, they are free! The colder months are a perfect time to go and learn something new indoors. There are children’s events (free and some with a minimal fee) that you can also check out at these museums!
Take in A Show
Some great shows are coming to Sioux Falls in February! Pretty Woman: The Musical will be at the Washington Pavillion on February 16th and 17th. Or, catch Celtic Angles Ireland at the Pavilion on the 27th!
At the Orpheum Theater, see local talent with the Premiere Playhouse or laugh along with Menopause the Musical 2: Cruising Through the Change from February 23rd to 25th.
Happy February, ‘hood family!
