Siouxland Libraries’ Summer Reading Program is just around the corner! Our Summer Reading Program is designed for toddlers, teens, and adults, offering more ways to read, create, explore, and discover. This year, we have introduced new challenges for kids and teens, along with fantastic activities for all ages and enjoyable, family-friendly events throughout the summer.

The theme for our 2025 Summer Reading Program is “Color Our World!” We invite you to embark on a journey of art and creativity, celebrating the countless ways in which art enriches our lives. Summer Reading starts May 23, 2025, and ends August 15, 2025. You can sign up starting May 23 for free at any branch location or online.

Why Participate in Summer Reading?

1. Prevent Summer Learning Loss:

Children can lose academic skills over the summer break. Reading helps them retain knowledge and stay sharp for the upcoming school year. It also improves vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills, all of which are essential for academic success. Books transport children to different worlds, sparking their imaginations and encouraging creative thinking.

2. Bond as Family:

Summer reading can be a fun family activity. Siouxland Libraries offers four age categories, allowing the whole family to participate.

3. Win Prizes:

Participants can earn prizes by completing challenges and reaching reading milestones.

4. Beat Boredom:

Reading provides an engaging way to spend summer days, keeping kids entertained and preventing boredom. The Summer Reading Program exposes children to various genres and authors, helping them discover new interests.
