Statewide in South Dakota

There is a statewide rule where you can only shoot off fireworks from June 27th-till the Sunday after the 4th of July. But that does not mean that each town does not have a more specific rule!

A South Dakota Resident can only buy fireworks from June 27th-July 5th. A non-resident has a longer timeframe where they can purchase.

No fireworks are permitted on public land (state parks, wildlife areas, any land owned/leased by the SD GFP, ect.)

In Sioux Falls, the use of fireworks is strictly regulated:

  • Fireworks Prohibited: It is illegal to discharge almost all fireworks within the city limits of Sioux Falls. The general rule is that they cannot make noise or have any launching components.
