Smiles – A Free One Day Children’s Dental Clinic

We are excited to share that on Saturday, September 28, 2024, there will be a free   dental clinic for the first 100 at-risk youth across the Sioux Empire. Here are the key details:

• Event:Sioux Empire Smiles – Free One-Day Children’s Dental Clinic
• Location:Children’s Dental Center, 3813 S. Kiwanis Circle, Sioux Falls
• Time:7:00 AM to 11:00 AM (early arrival is encouraged)
• Eligibility:Children 21 years of age and under who need dental care or have not seen a dentist in several years.
• Requirement:A parent or legal guardian must accompany the children.

Local dentists and their staff will generously donate their time to provide dental screenings and treatments. Dr. Miranda Lommen-Mielke, the director of the event, emphasized the importance of this clinic, stating, “Children with poor oral health status are more likely to experience dental pain, miss school, and perform poorly in school. We aim to provide care that has a direct impact on quality of life for area children and families.”

This initiative is made possible through the Southeastern District Dental Society, supported by various organizations including the South Dakota Dental Association, Avera Hospital, Sanford Hospital, Delta Dental of South Dakota Foundation, Children’s Dental Center, and Patterson Dental.
