1 in 5: Left Behind – Why Dyslexia Can No Longer Be Overlooked

Discover why dyslexia matters and how we can stop leaving 1 in 5 behind—let’s talk, learn, and act!

🎬 Community film screening + panel discussion

📚 Dyslexia impacts 1 in 5 learners

🤝 Presented in partnership with the Harrisburg School District

🎓 2 CEU credits available for area educators

Join parents, educators, and community advocates for a screening of Left Behind, a powerful documentary exploring the realities of dyslexia and why early awareness and informed support matter.

This inspiring film follows moms and teachers in New York City who refused to accept the status quo. Facing limited resources and systemic gaps, they advocated, innovated, and ultimately changed outcomes for dyslexic students in their community. This is not a story about what’s broken, it’s about what’s possible when communities decide to act.

Following the film, we will facilitate a candid conversation designed to help attendees better understand:

– What dyslexia is

— and what it is not

– How it shows up in classrooms and at home

– Why early identification matters

– Practical steps families and teachers can take

The goal of this event is simple: educate, spark meaningful dialogue, and connect families and educators with practical resources so fewer children are left behind simply because they learn differently.
