They’re easy to make, fun to decorate, and a surefire way to bring smiles to your family and friends.
We LOVE a recipe that is fun and easy to make with our kids. Having our children help out in the kitchen with a recipe they are excited about is a great way to teach them the important life skills of cooking/baking. You might as well make the learning fun!
Here are a few more favorite recipes for getting kids excited to help out in the kitchen:
Now, back to the Valentine Brownie Bites!
Ingredients:
- 1 box of brownie mix (plus ingredients needed as per package directions)
- Heart-shaped cookie cutter
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (semi-sweet is great here. But, use what you love!)
- White almond bark (1 cube)
- Valentine’s Day themed sprinkles (Pink, red, white, hearts, or anything else you like!)
- Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting
- Did you spy my powered sugar container in the photo? It is both a container and a shaker! Makes it so much easier and faster to dust something with powdered sugar. Here is a link to a powdered sugar duster! These are also great for dusting something with cocoa powder or flour.
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Brownies
- Preheat your oven according to the brownie mix instructions.
- Line a baking pan with parchment paper to ensure easy removal. Make sure to still spray down your pan if you only use the parchment paper on the bottom.
- Mix the brownie batter as directed on the package and pour it into the prepared pan.
- Bake the brownies until they are just set but not overcooked. This keeps them fudgy and easier to cut into shapes.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
Step 2: Cut Out the Hearts
- Once cooled, lift the brownie out of the pan using the parchment paper.
- Use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut as many hearts as possible from the brownies. Save the scraps for snacking or use them as toppings for ice cream.
Step 3: Decorate the Brownie Bites
- Melt the chocolate chips and almond butter in microwave-safe bowls in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
- Put the chocolate and almond bark into two pipping bags or two plastic bags (that is what we used here).
- Pipe/Drizzle the amond bark and chocolate over the brownie hearts. Pick any way of decorating that you like! Do lines, crossing lines, dots, or something random.
- Add the sprinkles while the chocolate is still warm, otherwise it will not stick.
- Let dry and then enjoy!
Step 4: Optional Finishing Touch
For an extra bit of flair, lightly dust the brownie hearts with powdered sugar using a small duster.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve these Valentine’s Brownie Bites on a decorative plate or package them in clear treat bags tied with red ribbon for an adorable gift. They’re perfect for classroom parties, dessert tables, or simply enjoying at home!
Tips for Success:
- If your brownies are too soft to cut cleanly, pop them in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
- Experiment with different decorations like edible glitter, mini candy hearts, or colored icing for added variety.
- For a homemade touch, make the brownies from scratch using your favorite recipe.
With just a few steps, you can create a treat that’s as delightful to make as it is to eat. These Valentine Brownie Bites are a delicious way to spread a little love this Valentine’s Day!
