There’s a certain thrill in the air when you find a great deal on a beautiful spring or summer day. At rummage sales (others call them garage sales), you can find almost anything! For parenting with growing children, rummage sales offer the promise of new-to-them clothing at a great price and toys galore. If you’re on the lookout for antiques, you are sure to find some during a morning out rummaging. Pick up anything from furniture, collectibles, clothing, toys, kitchen items, and really anything else you may be able to think of!

The Sioux Falls Area has a thriving rummage sale community, and in this article, we’ll let you know about some of the amazing neighborhood and city-wide rummage sales in our area.

Many cities and established neighborhoods host official rummage sale times. This allows anyone in the neighborhood to join in so that shoppers can hit up the most sales at one time. But a rummage or garage sale does not have to be during an official event!

All spring and summer long, you can find signs up for “Rummage Sale This Way” in the Sioux Falls area. Often, those hosting a sale not with an official neighborhood effort do so when another part of town has a lot of sales going on. For instance, the Kingswood Rummage might be on the west side of town, but during these four days, you can find sales all over the Sioux Falls Area!

Check out Facebook events and marketplace for rummage sales happening all year long!

Hosting your own Garage/Rummage Sale? Make sure to post your event to area Facebook groups, on Marketplace, and with the neighborhood directory (if applicable). Our top tips for getting attention are to make sure to have garage signs out at the end of the road, adding some attention-grabbing pannet banners. Make sure to grab some pre-priced stickers to make for an easier sale!

Black Friday Week Deals are here, and it’s the perfect time to snag incredible gifts for your kids and family! Amazon has rolled out some amazing discounts on everything from toys and games to gadgets and household essentials, making it easy to check off your holiday shopping list—or even treat your family to a little extra fun this season. In this post, we’ve rounded up our top 10 picks that are perfect for kids of all ages and families.

For more detailed lists of what we are loving this year, check out our posts on Top Toddler Toys, our Baby Gift Guide, and Top Kids Gifts this Year.

All the items below are either loved by ‘hood staff or are the items that we are placing in our carts!

For Kids:

Toniebox

We LOVE our Toniebox. It is by far one of the most used toys in our home. If you have been eying a Toniebox now is a great time to buy! We love that it’s screen-free, has all of their favorite characters (looking at you, Chase), and is easy enough for even my almost 2-year-old to play with.

The Toniebox linked above is their basic set. Right now you can also get a bundle for a great deal! This PAW Patrol Toniebox Bundle is amazing!

Pop Tube Sensory Toys

These inexpensive Pop Tube Sensory Toys are perfect for older babies, younger toddlers, or any sensory-seeking kiddo. A few years ago, this was the favorite gift of one of our staff member’s 1-year-old! These also make a perfect stocking stuffer!

Marble Run

We love any Marble Run toys. They encourage problem-solving, creative thinking, and fine motor skills. Plus, they are a ton of fun! Marble Run is also a great toy to grow with your children. Younger toddlers LOVE getting to continually place a marble down a creation you make (with supervision, of course. It is a marble!), and as your kids grow older they are able to make more complicated runs by themselves. We love this Marble Run with a working elevator on the Black Friday Week sales.

Amazon Fire Kids Tablet

Black Friday week is always one of the best times of the year to buy your kids a kids tablet. This year is no exception! We love our Amazon Fire 7 Kids Tablet for a reason. It’s a great tablet for younger kiddos who are just learning how to use technology independently. We also love the parent controls! Plus, with the year of Amazon Kids+ that you get with purchase you can really discover some great educational content. For older kids, we recommend the Amazon Fire HD Kids Pro Tablet.

Wireless Headphones

Headphones, like Beats Solo 4, can seem like one of those must-have items for the pre-teens, teens, and college kids in your life. If wireless headphones are on the list of someone in your life, then now is the time to get a pair! This deal is not one you want to be sleeping on.

Holiday PJ’s

Now is the time to buy your holiday pj’s! We love getting matching Christmas pj’s for our kids each year. It helps create some holiday magic and we usually have everyone wear their new ones while decorating the Christmas tree! There are a lot of great options online right now. Check out these options for Holiday PJ’s from the Children’s Place or the Simple Joy Carter’s Line of Holiday PJ’s.

Family

Ninja CREAMi

If you have been eyeing the Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream Maker for a while, this time of the year is going to be the time to make that purchase! After watching all of those social media videos of people making homemade ice cream at home, this is certainly something that we are eyeing for our carts!

Portable Carpet Cleaner

Anyone with kids or pets at home know that things happen and carpets/upholstery get dirty. The Little Green Carpet Cleaner from Bissell is on the Black Friday Week sale! Having a portable carpet cleaner at home is the gift that keeps on giving! Get this now and feel less frustrated the next time juice is spilled on your floor!

Vegetable Chopper

If you are anything like us, you have seen Vegetable Choppers all over social media. For good reason too! If you dislike chopping, want to add in more vegetables easily into your dinners, or simply have always wanted to try one, then now is the time to get yourself a vegetable chopper! One of our staff members has a veggie chopper they love from this brand and it’s on the black friday week sale!

Graco SlimFit 3-in-1 Car Seat

The Graco SlimFit 3-in-1 is a popular car seat for a reason! Used by ‘hood team members and it’s a great deal right now! We love that this is a convertible car seat and can be used for years. It’s made by a great brand and trusted by parents everywhere. Pro Tip: If you are looking for a super SLIM fit of a car seat, check out Diono.

Our staff has handpicked these items to help make your life easier, more fun, and a little bit more fabulous.

All of these items a ‘hood staffer either already owns (and loves) and thinks you would love too. Or, they are the items in our ‘hood staffers’ own cart!

Here are some tips to keep in mind while shopping the sale:

• Compare prices! It never hurts to double-check for the best price.
